AboutInternal Assessment Notice

Internal Examination:

Internal exam under CBCS Curriculum in 3 Years Honours and B. A. General courses is conducted as per the directions provided by UGC Guidelines for Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). For papers having 75 marks, 20% marks = 15 marks of which 5 marks are reserved for class attendance and 10 marks are reserved for class test/assignment/seminar. For papers having 50 marks, 20% marks = 10 marks are reserved for class test/assignment/seminar. For compulsory paper ENVS, 20 marks out of 100 are reserved for field work report/project report/term paper. In the Choice Based Credit System, internal evaluation/assessment is done for all the core, generic elective, skill enhancement and department specific elective courses. Departments are free to choose the modality of internal evaluation/assessment from the range of options (class test/student seminar/assignment/project work) provided by the University. Most of the departments opt for written test, while some provide topics/questions for small scale research work/literature review/assignment. Some departments conduct both. This has provided the opportunity to the students to work on a one-to-one basis with the course teacher towards solving a problem or answering a question. After completion of every topic, teachers provide the students with a set of problems/questions, objective-type and long, which students are asked to solve/answer in consultation with the respective teacher. The internal evaluation/assessment is conducted strictly within the time-period earmarked in the academic calendar so that substantial feedback is given to students much ahead of the end-semester examination.

The college exam committees that conduct University exam, also conduct the respective internal exam within the specific time period of each semester.
