The Alumni Group of Government General Degree College Mangalkote was informally formed in the year 2022 on the request of the past students of the college to initiate a bond between present and future alumni on a common platform. This relationship building is essential for continuous networking among seniors and juniors which will eventually benefit the stakeholders as well as the institution in the long run. Keeping associated with the institute and having a voice in decision-making will enable the institute to function effectively while uplifting its image.

In this context, the alumni group, for the betterment of helping and guiding current students of the college, organized various kinds of programs, talks, interactive sessions, cultural activities and lecture sessions on a continuous basis to provide exposure and general awareness on various topics to develop soft-skills as well as career-related knowledge. Some of the programs conducted by the alumni group in the year 2022 and 2023 are listed below:

1. On 12.03.2022, the alumni arranged a talk on ‘Medical Representative as a Career’ where an alumnus being part of that profession himself spoke about the job opportunities in this line of work, the pros and cons of doing this profession, the need of having good communicative skill to network with different doctors and the knowledge of selling the appropriate product catering to the need of patients concerned. The talk helped the under-graduate students to gain understanding of the profession which will guide them while making career decisions.
2. The alumni on 25.05.2022 with great enthusiasm conducted an interactive cultural session on ‘The Role of Dialogue in Drama’ where the alumni members through power-point presentation explained the current students about the nitty-gritties and history of drama and also performed a small skit to teach the essence of voice modulation and dialogue throw. The program enabled young students to participate and to develop the self-confidence to perform in public through various co-curricular activities showcasing their hidden talents.
3. On 08.07.2022, the alumni arranged a much-needed program on ‘Career Prospects of Post-graduation after Graduation’ where the alumni group discussed openly with the present batch about their career aspirations and the significance of having a post-graduation degree and also guided them on how to choose an apply in PG Courses through online process.
4. The alumni further thinking about the popularity of teaching profession, organized a session on ‘Scope of B.Ed. as a Career Path After Graduation’ on 13.01.2023, where an alumnus studying B.Ed. course came and shared his experiences of choosing this career and emphasized the role of teachers in our society side-by-side. The young students were intrigued to know all information related to applying in B.Ed. institutes which will ultimately seek them good employment.
5. On 03.03.2023, the alumni organized a lecture session on choosing ‘MBA as a Career for Arts and Science Graduates’, where they imparted knowledge to the under-graduates about how to prepare for entrance examinations to get into reputed management institutes to enhance their skill-set for increasing employment opportunities and career growth.
6. On 10.05.2023, the alumni with eagerness arranged a program on ‘Academic Career Development’ to provide general awareness about various career trends to the young students and how to develop one’s career in future while balancing and coping with family, peer and societal pressure.
